Sex and Shoes

The highly anticipated Sex and The City sequel appears in theaters tonight a minute past midnight. You better believe my bestie and I will be there. Itching with excitement in the red theater seats dressed in our own little SATC get ups.
As anxious as I am to see the drama that is to come between Carrie and Aiden, I’m a tad more excited to see the glamourous SATC2 wardrobe. With an astounding wardrobe budget in the range of $10,000,000 (yes, 7 zeroes), it’s bound to be mind blowing.
Who are you rooting for? Team Aiden or team Big?

Top Shelf
This past Friday instead of bouncing around the great city of Chicago with friends, I remained faithful to Craig Thompson’s illustrated novel, Blankets, and curled up in my own.
Thompson tells his tale of love, youth, and childhood so truly, yet with so few words.
The illustrations are so brilliantly done they instantly leave your heart aching in nostalgia of your own first love.
I highly recommend this for anyone who is in need of a selfish weekend night in. (:
Also, keep your eyes peeled for Thompson’s forthcoming novel, Habibi.

Late Night Treat(s)
This truly couldn’t wait until the morning. The highly anticipated debut album, Treats, from Brooklyn duo Sleigh Bells released just a bit ago and is available for purchase via iTunes. NPR is streaming the entire album on their site. To say the least, you’ll be up off your swivel chair in just a moment.

Home
After a brief yet peaceful train ride this rainy Saturday afternoon, I arrived home. With each mile that I arrived closer to Michigan I felt my body breathe, I felt it relax. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore the city but it feels incredible to be home. I spent this evening with my two best girls in her cozy brick road home, wrapped in blankets talking away the night like old women. And at 3am found ourselves driving deserted roads only to roam a completely empty grocery store for chocolates and flowers.
As I lay in my old room, in these walls that have witnessed growth and change and so many variations of the person I am today, I feel so lucky to be able to call this dingy little beach town home.
Today should be just as wonderful.
Happy Mother’s Day!

Music Monday
With summer vastly approaching it only seems fit to introduce the perfect soundtrack for those hum drum days.
The Brooklyn based trio, Beach Fossils, consists of Dustin Payseur, John Pena and Sennott Burke. Their nostalgic, lo-fi indie woes will have you toasting to summer romances, destination-less bike rides, rooftop fireworks and on and on and on.

Following their short yet sweet 2010 EP, Daydream, the Brooklyn treasure will release their first self titled LP on May 25th via Captured Tracks.
It’s definitely an album you’ll want to have on your playlist this summer.
1. Daydream
2. Desert Sand
1. Sometimes
2. Youth
3. Vacation
4. Lazy
5. Twelve Roses
